About Me

My Photo
Since becoming an expat in 2008, my life has taken on new meaning. Trading a life of abundance and excess in the US for the unfamiliar and the unexpected while abroad has opened doors I never knew existed. Like adding a pinch of a curious spice to a familiar dish, each new adventure offers a new perspective on the world I thought I knew. And, as it turns out I like a lot of spice! “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

About Us

Memories are life's stories that are worth writing down and sharing with others.
To ensure that no small moment goes unnoticed, we keep a travel journal.
It goes with useverywhere, on every vacation, short or extended, nearby and far away.
This blog is an extension of our journal - a window into our lives abroad as we set out
on new adventures. As we reflect on our lives, we hope you find our thoughts as entertaining as we do!

Jeff: Rocket Scientist turned full-time MBA student
With a penchant for adrenaline and unyielding persistence, Jeff has an appetite for a good challenge. No matter if he's out and about in the great outdoors or in the comfort of his own home, he always finds a way to put his mental and physical strength to the test. Not being one to sit idle, we are almost guaranteed an adventure and a good story to tell on any given day.

Lauren: International Teacher
From an early age, Lauren knew she would one day set out to see the world. Never, however, did she imagine she would accomplish many of her lifetime goals before her thirtieth birthday. Becoming an international teacher has opened doors far beyond her expectations allowing travel to become more than a passion; it's a way of life.

Together: Dynamic Globe-trotting Duo
With every new experience, either at home or abroad, our lives become all the more rich and vibrant. New places, new foods, and new friends give us broader perspectives on our own lives and a greater understanding of who we are and where we want to be. The world is our oyster and together we plan to admire its treasures.
